Silvia Soro


She is a freelance playwright, actress and director and works as a teacher, leading many theatre groups and studios for children and youngsters. Since October 2011 she also works as a screenwriter for Estonian Television, writing a TV serial for little children called Children’s room together with Eva Koff. Silvia has written 22 plays, mostly for youngsters and children. Five of her plays have been staged in Estonian professional theaters, but mostly Silvia stages her plays herself with her studio groups and different (semi)professional companies. Soro studied acting at Viljandi Culture Academy (1997) and graduated Estonian Music and Theatre Academy with master’s degree in Theatre Arts and Theatre Education (2010). During her studies in Estonian Music and Theatre Academy she also spent 3 month in the UdK Berlin as an exchange student. She has worked as an actress and dramaturge in Ugala Theatre Viljandi (1997–2002).

Her play Speaking Stones (2010) was selected for presentation to the Women Playwrights International Conference held in August 2012 in Stockholm.
